Whaler's Village in Ka'anapali:

In the Fairway Shops at Ka'anapali:

Lahaina:

The devastating fire of August 8, 2023 destroyed much of our beloved Lahaina Town. Our hearts go out to the proprietors and workers of these places. We show their names below in the hope that you can follow their recovery. Some restaurants survived the fire (those located leeward of the Cannery Mall) and we hope they can reopen soon.

Re-opened. Yay!

Hopefully, re-opening soon:

  • Sale Pepe $$1/2 (Great Italian: pizza dough and pasta made right there)

Gone (at least for now):

  • Pacific'O $$$ (beautiful oceanfront)
  • Lahaina Grill $$$$ (buffalo mozzarella salad, seared ahi, triple berry pie - best in world)
  • Cool Cat Cafe $$ (burgers, fries, shakes, music) - moved to Kihei

A short walk from our condo:

Napili:

  • Fond $$1/2 Wonderful food.  Very good value.
  • The Sea House at the Napili Kai Resort $$$ A little old school in decor, but delicious food.

OUR ROUTINE

  • Morning Walk:
  • Walk 1.2 miles (2 km) south to the Honoapi'ilani Park public parking lot across from Times Market to get onto the North Ka'anapali Beach boardwalk next to Honua Kai Resort. You can go further south for about 1.5 miles (2 km) to the north side of Black Rock. On your way back, get a latte from Bad Ass Coffee. Shop for fresh local fruit, banana bread, scones and lilikoi cream cheese at the Honokowai Farmer's Market. Ask Chris for a papaya for today and another for tomorrow. Try the Acai bowls at the store inside (anytime). Yum.
  • If you have time to wait, get the best cinnamon roll on Maui at Papi's Ohana at 3481 Lower Honoapiilani Rd. To avoid the lineups, try going at about 10:30 AM and hope that there are still some left.
  • Afternoon Walk:
  • Drive south about 3.7 miles (6 km) to Hanakao'o Beach Park - it's at the south end of South Ka'anapali Beach. There's free public parking. (It's also known as Canoe Beach for all the outrigger canoes parked there with canoe races some weekends.) Its landmark is a yellow lifeguard station. Park there then walk north on the sand to Black Rock (It's 1.5 miles north). Feeling thirsty? There's a Starbucks beachside at the Marriott exactly 1 km (.6 miles) north of the lifeguard station. There's another in teh Westin hotel next to Whaler's Village. If you get tired of walking on the sand, there's a public beachside boardwalk from the Sheraton at Black Rock all the way to the Hyatt, the southernmost hotel.
